#1minutemeal: Granola bar recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 200g porridge oats
  • 200g of old cereal - we used Bran Flakes
  • 100g mixed dried fruit
  • Handful of nuts, seeds or chocolate drops to taste
  • 100g butter and extra for greasing
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1tsp nutmeg
  • 3 tbsp of honey
  • 100g light muscovado sugar

METHOD

Grease and line a baking tin with baking paper. Preheat the over to 180°C.

First, scrunch up the cereal so it is in small pieces.

Mix the cereal, porridge oats, fruit, nuts, nutmeg etc together in a big bowl.

Melt the butter over a low heat in a saucepan with the honey and sugar.

Combine the butter and oat mix.

Pour the mixture into the lined baking tray and pack down against the sides. We didn't fill our baking tray, instead we compacted it so it was at a desirable granola bar height down one end of the tray.

Pop in the oven for 20 minutes.

Pull out and let cool in the tin. Cut into bars and enjoy.
