Gwyneth Paltrow has released her annual New Year's detox diet on Goop, but nutritionists have warned giving it a try could starve your body of essential vitamins and minerals.
Gwynnie recommends starting each day of the three day detox with a cup of room temperature lemon water, followed by herbal tea, a breakfast chai tea shake and more herbal tea. We're already starving.
And considering coffee, alcohol, tomatoes, carbs, sugar and dairy are all banned you're probably going to stay starving.
For lunch, Gwyneth suggests chickpea soup created using one cup of chickpeas, six cups of water, one large onion, juice from three lemons and salt and pepper. Amazingly, she reckons that can serve four!
Unfortunately for Gwyneth a top nutritionist has slammed the diet as "starvation". Dr Fred Pescatore told RadarOnline, "Basically, there is no food until about 4 in the afternoon, which for a 'winter' detox should be the opposite!
"The only foods on tap are foods meant to make you eliminate [waste] one way or the other. It is essentially a three-day fast with a bit of protein thrown in."
