Scientists think they may have discovered a link between erectile dysfunction drugs and menstrual cramps.

For our own sanity, we're going to gloss over how and why they thought to test Viagra on a woman but hey ho.

Yep, sildenafil citrate - one of the key components of Viagra - is known to dilate blood vessels, which could help to relieve painful pelvic cramps (also known as Primary Dysmenorrhea).

The boffins at Penn State College of Medicine in the US inserted sildenafil citrate vaginally (good lord help us)...and it worked!

Now scientists think the blood flow increasing properties of erectile dysfunction drugs could help with all kinds of lady pain. Result.
