Scientists plan to banish hunger pangs and control our appetites with implants...

We knew this would happen, we're turning into Terminator-style cyborgs one Google Glass and weight loss chip at a time!

Scientists have been testing a new microchip implant that will help dieters to lose weight without feeling famished.

The chip would be inserted into your arm a bit like the contraceptive implant and will release appetite-suppressing hormones that tell you when to stop eating. Weird, right?

Swiss scientists intend for the device to 'scan' your blood for fat and release hormones when the levels get too high, meaning you could eat healthy, low-fat food for longer.

Even more amazing is that the chip is designed to stop releasing hormones when you reach a healthy, normal weight. So, it's ideal for over-weight or obese patients.

Thinking of giving it a try? Well, tough luck because it's a few years off completion.

The researchers hope to have a fully functioning version -the size of a penny - in five to ten years. They think it will replace gastric bands and diet pills as a safe weight loss method.

Considering only 30% of the population are of a healthy weight, this can't come sooner, right?
