It's that time of year again. Newspapers, TV and our Twitter feeds are full of diets, promising to take us from fat sofa-dwelling slobs to svelte Victoria's Secret-level hotties by the end of the month.

The problem is, there's just too much advice out there. Should we be trying to eat like a caveman? Exercise like an Olympic athlete? Subject ourselves to unusual body-sculpting procedures?

We spoke to Garry Kerr, the head of training and operations at British Military Fitness who shared his advice for what you really need to be doing this January.
