If you're trying to beat the bulge in time for bikini season you need to snack smart. Low-cal options aren't all sliced raw veggies and handfuls of grapes, there are some surprisingly naughty options too.

Take a look at some of these surprising snacks under 100 calories...

One roasted skinless chicken drumstick - 75 calories: Serve with broccoli, spinach and one small baked sweet potato for a dinner under 300 calories.

3/4 oz cheddar cheese - 90 calories: Melt over one slice of wholegrain bread for a 155 calorie version of cheese on toast.

1/2 cup of guacamole - 90 calories: Serve with salsa and some baked tortilla chips as a tasty Mexican-inspired starter or snack.

One small scoop of low-fat frozen yoghurt - 80 calories: Add a handful of fresh raspberries and some dry roasted pistachio nuts for a sweet snack that's only 230 calories.

One vodka and soda - 96 calories: If you're out on the town this weekend, stick to vodka and soda with a lime wedge. If you feel the need to reach for bar snacks, eight cashew nuts work out at roughly 100 calories.

Three tablespoons of hummus - 80 calories: Slice up some red peppers, celery and carrots and dunk them in a pot of hummus with a sprinkling of paprika on the top. Delish.

One Babybel Light - 63 calories: If you haven't eaten one since you were a child it's time to get back on the Babybel bandwagon. Slice it into a salad to add another flavour and texture to lettuce leaves.

2 1/2 teaspoons of real mayonaise - 85 calories: Yes you can have mayo! Add one large egg to a salad and serve with a jacket potato for a meal that's around 325 calories.

1 1/2 oz hot dog - 85 calories: Who said you can't have tasty takeaway-style food on a diet. Leave the bun and stick to a sausage with 3/4 oz cheese and some softened onions with a salad. Your whole dinner (give or take a few dollops of mustard and ketchup) should work out at roughly 250 calories.

One small oatmeal cookie - 65 calories: Next time you're drawn to Millie's Cookies make sure you opt for an oatmeal version instead of traditional chocolate chip. At 65 calories (plus a fair amount of fibre) you don't have to feel too guilty about nibbling on something sweet.
