Expert nutritionists are hailing the 'if you want it, make it' mantra as the latest trick for losing fat fast.
According to writer and activist Michael Pollan, the single most important factor in shedding pounds is where your food is coming from - not the amount of fat or calories it contains.
We know, we were confused at first too, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Check out the video below...
The idea is brilliantly simple - 'If you want it, make it'. According to Pollan, this cuts out the corporate middle man who's pumping your grub with sugar, salt and fat to increase the "craveability" factor.
All this means is if you want a cheeseburger with chips you can have it as long as you cook the lot from scratch.
Because lots of our junk food favourites are hard to make (seriously, who has time to make a chocolate bar?) you're likely to eat much less of it, or only eat it when it's a very special occasion.
Plus, because of time constraints you're more likely to cook simpler meals like vegetable pasta, salad and stir fries, which all contain healthy whole foods.
So, if you're on a mission to get slim this year stick it to the corporate man and think about making food for yourself.
