It is so good in fact, that scientists in China have been developing a broccoli juice to help the people are being harmed by the country's pollution problem (instead of actually, you know, sorting out the pollution problem).
Broccoli has long been championed for its cancer-preventative compounds, specifically the ability to help detoxify the body.
According to Time, specifically it is a "source of glucoraphanin, which creates sulforaphane when chewed or swallowed." This then accelerates the body's ability to get rid of toxins and certain pollutants from the body.
Researchers gave 300 Chinese men and women a lovely sounding drink of sterilised water, lime and pineapple juice, and some dissolved freeze-dried broccoli sprout powder. Ummmmmm.
When the participants blood and urine was tested, scientists discovered those drinking the concoction had increased the rate they expelled carcinogen benezene by 61% and irritant acrolein by 23%.
Broccoli is also a great source of vitamins A and C and is also a good source of folate.
Want to boost your own pollutant expelling powers?
