It's official - condoms have caught up with the pill when it comes to the most popular form of contraception. For years, popping a pill daily was the favoured form of contraceptive for UK women, but it would appear that all those safe sex campaigns have had an impact, as new research shows that one in four women reach for the rubber in the heat of the moment - the same number that take the pill.
Scares over sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydia and even syphilis, and manufacturers making condoms more attractive to women (and more handbag-friendly) might be responsible for the rise, according to researchers.
However, the use of long-term methods of contraception such as the implant or the injection remains low, perhaps because GPs aren't letting women know the options that are available to them.
What do you think? Do you use the pill, condoms, or other methods of contraception?
