Russell Brand and Katy Perry are engaged after the comedian proposed over the New Year, according to the Sun newspaper.
The 34-year-old proposed to the 25-year-old I Kissed A Girl singer during a spiritual ceremony in India on New Year’s Eve, before a “love guru” blessed the relationship. Russell confirmed the rumours by texting the Sun’s Bizarre editor Gordon Smart saying, “It’s true, much love.”
The smitten couple have become very close since they began dating three months ago. Perry was seen helping Brand with his Christmas shopping in London at the end of last year. Rumours circulated that Brand was about to pop the question when he was spotted ring shopping before the pair set off on holiday. The star told a friend, "Katy's managed to tame me. This is it - I'm completely in love."
Brand’s spokeswoman has said she has received no confirmation of the reports.
