are people who smoke around their children bad parents

Do you think that people who smoke around their children are bad parents? The Daily Mail seem to think so, after printing pictures of actress Billie Piper smoking around her toddler son Winston at the weekend.

Pictures in the article appear to show the Secret Diary of a Call Girl star blowing smoke near 21-month-old Winston while on a family outing to a London pub with husband Lawrence Fox. Billie has spoken in the past about the fact that she gave up smoking during her pregnancy, but has now returned to the habit.

A recent report from the Royal College of Physicians showed that tens of thousands of children in the UK every year develop asthma, chest infections and ear problems because they are exposed to smoke from their parents' cigarettes. The report led to calls for smoking in cars to be banned, along with smoking anywhere where children congregate, such as parks and playgrounds.

What do you think? Are people who smoke around their children bad parents?
