The moustachioed people behind Movember travelled across the nation to bring together a super group of Mo Bros - chefs who want to support the cause and get the average bloke back in the kitchen.
As a result of this union they created the Bring It On Home cookbook, a beautifully presented free recipe book, which is available from the Movember Supper Lip Club Blog. Clever name that.
To give you a flavour of what to expect, we'll be showing off some of our favourite recipes from the book throughout the month.
This tasty dessert recipe from London chef, Anthony Power, is perfect for dinner parties and tasty tea-time treats...
Coffee Bean Panna Cotta and Espresso Syrup
Serves: 6
Anthony says, "This dessert is very easy to make and can be made the day before your dinner party. It also serves as a great substitute for after dinner coffee, which, unless you have an espresso machine, can be a hassle – and no one likes bad coffee."
Ingredients:
For the panna cotta:
150ml double cream
150ml milk
25g fresh coffee beans
50g sugar
2 leaves of gelatin (you can get this from most supermarkets)
Biscotti or shortbread biscuits to serve
For the syrup:
20ml glucose (you can get this from most supermarkets)
50g sugar
150ml very strong coffee, preferably espresso
Method:
In a bowl, soak the gelatin with a little cold water.
In a saucepan, heat the cream, milk, sugar and the coffee beans on a low heat, slowly bring to the boil and allow to infuse for 30 minutes.
Squeeze the water from the gelatin and add the softened leaves to the cream mixture, stirring thoroughly.
Strain through a sieve and pour into small moulds or pots. Set in the fridge for at least 3 hours.
For the coffee syrup, place all the ingredients in a saucepan and reduce over a low heat until thick and syrupy.
Top Tip:
Take the coffee syrup out of the fridge a few hours before your dessert course so it warms to room temperature and softens to a thick syrup.
Yummy! We want one NOW...
