Throw your hat in the ring for 'Daughter of the Year' this Mother's Day by taking your mum for a free-flowing champagne afternoon tea at the Reform Social and Grill.
Inspired by classic British gentlemen's clubs (the nice kind, not the strip joint kind), the dining room décor is all dark wood and linen tablecloths, with funky glassware and pretty butterfly-print china giving it a more feminine feel.
Tasty sandwiches, scones and 'fancies' are served on a classic three-tiered cake stand, and the unhurried service means you can happily spend the afternoon grazing, gossiping and taking advantage of the endless champagne top-ups.
The fact that's its located inside a hotel just off Oxford Street only adds to its charm – pop in after a day of shopping? Why yes sir, we think we will!
The name of the game is Retro British – though your mum will probably remember serving some of the nibbles unironically at dinner parties in the 80s.
Fancies include bitesize versions of rich battenburg, buttery apple pie, a flakey eccles cake and a mini Black Forest Gateau with a kirsch cherry and a squirt of cream. Classic scones are served with Devonshire clotted cream and jam.
Meanwhile, the finger sandwiches have got excellent British pedigree, with smoked salmon sourced from Scotland, goats curd from Cumbria and ham from the local Marylebone butcher.
If you fancy something a bit different (or if you've brought dad along too) there's the option of a Gentleman's tea, which replaces the fancies with a hearty pork pie, mini Wagyu beef burger and a snail sandwich. Served on a wooden board, it's the food equivalent of a Paul Smith suit – very classy.
Choose from a selection of loose leaf teas, including the Mandeville Special Blend – a mellow, easy-drinking black tea.
Free-flowing champagne ups the luxury, with staff on hand to stop your glass running dry. You'll also be given a cocktail (in case you weren't feeling tipsy enough) making it all incredibly good value for money.
