If you're planning on cooking a fancy meal tonight you might want to consider adding a few more carrots and peas if you want your dinner guests to like you.
According to recent research, chefs who add helpings of vegetables to their cooking are held in higher regard by those eating the final meal.
Researchers have discovered that veggies make people imagine a kinder and more loving chef in comparison to cooks who prepare meals without the green stuff.
Participants labelled cooks who added veg as more 'thoughtful', 'attentive' and 'capable', even though they never met them in person.
The results also showed that veggies make meals taste nicer - with more people complementing the taste of steak with broccoli over steak alone.
Even if you're not fussed about adding (really important!) nutritional value to your meals, take comfort in the fact that a dollop of spinach or a handful of roasted turnips will make you a more loving and popular cook.
Health and emotional benefits in one!
Now where's that squash and celery?
