Bikini body
Steve Miller, author of Get Off Your Arse And Lose Weight, says, \"Buying yourself a new bikini and hanging this somewhere you can see it daily, reminds you of your goal. Then tell yourself you\'re one step closer to having a gorgeous beach body, as now is the time to start working on losing that muffin top so you can flaunt that beach body of yours. Build a daily routine of brisk walking, work up a sweat to rid your body of those toxins and burn off excess fat.\"
If you find yourself tempted to snack, mentally focus on your goal. Picture yourself on that beach. As the pounds melt away, make sure you reward yourself, by treating yourself to new clothes and accessories for your holiday.

Shopping basket
Rosemary Conley advises, \"Only take a list of items you need when food shopping. Don\'t be tempted by \'buy one, get one free\' or \'two for three\' deals, as this only fills your fridge and cupboards with more food than you need. If you are struggling to give-up your favourite food, find a low fat alternative instead.
Carry your shopping bags to the car once you\'ve finished shopping, rather than using the trolley, it\'s a great strength workout! Use portion control when eating at home, by cutting back on your servings of meat. Increase the amount of vegetables you have with each meal, as this helps you fill up, but with fewer calories. Dine out less, drink less alcohol as it weakens your will power and adds bucket loads of calories to a person\'s daily intake - and don\'t even consider cheating! You\'ll feel so much better about yourself on that beach or by the pool.\"

Woman exercising
Personal trainer Jane Dowling has a number of high profile clients for both fitness and nutritional matters and owns her own boutique Power Plate Studio in London Bridge. She says, \"Pre-holiday avoid processed foods which are high in salt and sugar, and don\'t panic! Panicking leads to an erratic lifestyle, which in turn makes for erratic eating patterns.
\r\n\r\nGive up caffeine two weeks before your holiday as this will not only improve sleeping habits but also reduce any cellulite and your body will have fewer toxins present. It\'s also important to have at least eight hours sleep per night, as this allows your body to recover and repair itself. If it\'s tired, you\'ll end up looking for fuel and energy from empty calories in sugar, chocolate and crisps, and these can be addictive.
\r\n\r\nFinally, give your body and metabolism a jump start. Try a Power Plate class, they are around 20 minutes long and you can see and feel results very quickly. I\'d recommend classes two or three times per week in the run-up to your holiday.\"

Supplements
Dr Sarah Brewer says, \"When you\'re on a diet, it\'s important to reduce your energy intake and exercise more often. This isn\'t always easy as your body has a complex system of hormones that stimulates your appetite and keeps you eating. However, scientists have discovered a way to overcome this. Natural oil extracted from kernels of the Korean pine tree (Pinus Koraiensis) can help suppress urges to snack. The extract makes it easier to control your food intake by telling your brain when you\'ve had enough. Research shows that it can significantly reduce the amount of food you eat by nine per cent compared with those taking an inactive placebo.\"
\r\n\r\nHealthspan\'s Slimline supplement, £10.95 for 60 capsules, contains 1g of pine kernel oil, and helps suppresses a person\'s appetite.

Low gi diet
\"Low glycaemic diets are an effective method of promoting weight loss and can be easily incorporated into your lifestyle,\" says Dr Brewer. \"A recent gold standard (Cochrane) review found that people following a low glycaemic index diet lost more weight, and found improvement in blood cholesterol levels that those following other types of diets where calorie intake was also restricted. Those people on the low GI diet lost an average of 2.2lb (1kg) more than those people on other diets.
