On Saturday evening, Handbag were invited to spend an evening in decadent, belle époque style at Café de Paris’ Wam Bam burlesque night. With the best table in the house (of course) we were whisked back into a time of debauchery, cheekiness and partial nudity. There were ladies in gorgeous underwear, comedy acts we choked on our wine laughing at, and some good old sing-along fun. Not to mention some can-cans.
It really was like walking into another time and another world, with our host Lady Alex providing all the glamour of a Marlene Dietrich-style diva. She sang, she danced, she took her clothes off… she put them back on again.
And what clothes they were! Vintage-inspired lingerie brand What Katie Did provided sequined sets, silk corsets, heart-shaped pasties and all the sumptuous details you would expect from a burlesque show. We’re not surprised that fans of the brand include Christina Hendricks and Julia Roberts. We wish we had an excuse to dress like this everyday!
An entirely unique and special night out, which we would recommend to you all.
