Tom Ford will show in London
His hush-hush New York presentation of his first womenswear collection for six years last September caused excitement around the world, and after much will-he/won't-he speculation Tom Ford has confirmed that he will show in London after all.
Well, sort of. The designer has revealed that for his second womens ready-to-wear collection, he will be holding intimate press appointments during London Fashion Week (which kicks off on Friday 18 February) with the editors of the international glossies at his London showroom. Its understood that Ford will continue with the secretive theme, with all cameras and mobile phones banned from the presentation to ensure no sneaky images of the collection are leaked. The exact date has yet to be revealed.
And although its great news that such a prestigious designer as Ford has decided to do business in the capital, we were kinda hoping for another star-studded catwalk (remember the pics of Beyoncé, Lauren Hutton and Daphne Guinness modelling the collection in New York?). However, his decision to present in London does cement the citys importance on the fashion week calendar and, who knows, maybe hell surprise us once again.
London Fashion Week autumn/winter 2011 runs from 18 to 23 February.
