Proenza Schouler's smart move

by Jemma Tibbals
Proenza Schouler spring/summer 2011 show report.

The Proenza Schouler girl has smartened up and got sophisticated for spring/summer 2011. Gone are the surfy tie-dye prints (s/s10) and the teenage rebellion leather (a/w10), instead, in their place, a new polished look. The transformation from Californian surfer girl to this might seem huge but the key ingredient to any Proenza Schouler show is attitude and edge, which the spring/summer 2011 collection has masses.

Key details:
Sophistication and polish
Lavender and white
Toned down tailoring
Tweed - pink, yellow, black and white
Hook and eye detailing
Sheer structureless dresses
Proenza's take on the French maid
Bleeding ink stains
Crafted, oversized necklaces
Underwear peeking out
Hot shades
Heeled sandals
