We ♥ New York Fashion Week
Five things weve loved about New York Fashion Week autumn/winter 2011 so far:
1) Theyskens Theory
Olivier Theyskens new collection for Theory is the buzz name on every fashion eds lips at the moment. The acclaimed designers gorgeous spring line has just landed at net-a-porter.com and Harvey Nichols and, I confess, I want it all, its that good. With expectations running high, the autumn/winter 2011 collection was unveiled during New York Fashion Week at Theyskens debut catwalk show since he started the collaboration with the US label. And fans of the spring line will not be disappointed. The collection featured lots of cable knit sweaters, mannish tailoring, bleached skinny jeans, leather shorts, billowing sheer black dresses and long grey overcoats all cool, edgy and, more importantly, totally wearable.
2) Alexander Wangs show
After a mixed couple of seasons, Wang is back. The 26-year-old - undoubtedly one of New York Fashion Weeks hottest design stars - made a triumphant return to form with his signature sexy, grungy and model off-duty aesthetic. Stand-out pieces included sparkling pink drainpipe jeans, black fur coats, fluffy pink jumpers and shredded satin skirts in black and champagne. Wang-tastic!
3) The Marc Jacobs show
Considering hes the man who single-handedly triggers trends (his spring/summer 2011 collection is set to spurn a 70s revival come spring), this autumn youd better prepare yourself for polka dots, rubber latex and lace in a body-conscious yet ladylike silhouette - perhaps an antidote to the loose, floaty feeling of his last collection.
4) The coats at Altuzarra
Tailored tweed trenches, red biker jackets and 90s-style army parkas with furry hoods - all so lovely.
5) Random front row guests
American cookery queen Martha Stewart at Marc Jacobs and Whoopi Goldberg at Chado Ralph Rucci. Ah-mazing.
