London Fashion Week kicks off!
The clothes! The models! The celebrity front row guests! Oh, the glamour. Yes, that’s right folks, London Fashion Week is upon us once again. The schedule officially kicked off this morning at Somerset House with veteran designer Paul Costelloe’s autumn/winter 2011 show. British Fashion Council (BFC) chairman, Harold Tillman, then opened proceedings before handing over to the BFC’s new ambassador and Prime Minister’s wife, Samantha Cameron, who made her first speech in her new fashion role.
Cameron, dressed in a chic black pencil skirt, blazer and blouse, said: “I am passionate about fashion and it's a real honour to be here as an ambassador for the British Fashion Council. That passion isn't just about how fashion makes people feel. It's about what it can do for our country.”
She went on to add that the UK’s fashion business is “one of the most important industries” in the country, which sends out a “powerful message about British creativity.”
