Lanvin for H&M hits the catwalk
After weeks of fevered excitement, the eagerly anticipated launch of Lanvins collection for H&M is almost here. And to celebrate next weeks launch date (Tuesday 23 November), H&M threw a star-studded party and catwalk show at The Pierre hotel in New York last night.
The starry guestlist included Sofia Coppola, Emma Roberts, Elisa Sednaoui, Anna Sui, Elettra Wiedemann, Alexander Wang and Tory Burch, who all watched customised pieces from the Lanvin for H&M collection make their way down the catwalk. My highlight was Vogue Nippons Anna Dello Russo strutting down the runway in an asymmetric cerise pink dress, long leather gloves and a fascinator walking a large grey poodle (see picture left).
The show was a chance for fans of Lanvins artistic director, Alber Elbaz, to get a sneak peek at his first high street collaboration, which is full of stunning dresses in bold floral prints, fizzing bright shades and gothic black with heaps of ruffles, layers and corsages, as well as mini skirts, sheer blouses, shaggy faux fur jackets and pointy heels.
Sofia Coppola praised the affordability of the new Lanvin for H&M range, priced from £14.99 to £149.99. She said: I think Alber Elbaz is great, I love what he does at Lanvin, it's so girly and playful and confident. It's so cool he's working with H&M, it makes it so accessible to all kinds of young people to be able to afford it and wear it."
Whats more, pieces from last nights Lanvin for H&M show along with five original sketches by Elbaz have gone under the hammer as part of an auction in aid of Unicef. To place a bid visit lanvinforhm.com before 26 November to own your slice of fashion history.
