Video: Backstage after the Kinder show

by Jemma Tibbals

After taking in Kinder Aggugini's spring/summer 2011 show, I went backstage to chat to the man himself. He was in great demand, with fellow Italian's - family, friends and colleagues - queueing up to congratulate him (air kissing was in abundance), including Vogue Nippon's Fashion Director at Large Anna Dello Russo, who simply had to tell him he and his latest collection was "fabulous".

I duly found out that the spring/summer 2011 Kinder collection had been inspired by the book Travels in the Interior Districts of Africa, a book written in 1805 by a Scottish explorer. Kinder said he had found relevance in the story of colonialism through the idea of transformation (Mungo Park, the writer of the book set out as a colonial explorer and came back a changed man), Kinder chose to represent this in the structure and drape, tone and colour of his collection.

Watch the video to find out more about Kinder's spring/summer 2011 collection.
