Kate Middleton to wear Alexander McQueen on her wedding day?
After months of fevered speculation, its understood that Kate Middleton will wear a dress by Alexander McQueen for her wedding to Prince William in just over a months time.
According to a report in yesterdays Sunday Times, Middleton will wear a dress designed by Sarah Burton, creative director of the Alexander McQueen label following McQueens death last year.
Fashion insiders claim that Burton was chosen on the grounds of her quirky elegance, discretion and low profile, and will work closely with the bride-to-be to create a very British gown.
Alexander McQueen is officially denying the story, however its believed that the brand has been sworn to secrecy by the palace.
And its not the first time that the fashion house has been linked to a wedding involving the royals. Fashion journalist Sarah Buys married Tom Parker Bowles, son of Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, in 2005 wearing an off-the-shoulder wedding dress by Alexander McQueen, which has inspired Middleton to do the same.
Cheshire-born Burton was Alexander McQueens right-hand woman at the label for 14 years, before she took over at the helm following his suicide. She presented her first womenswear collection for the brand during Paris Fashion Week in October last year.
Kate Middleton and Prince William will marry in Westminster Abbey on 29 April.
