Galliano replaced at his own label

Bill Gaytten to replace John Galliano at his own label.

Bill Gaytten has replaced John Galliano as creative director of his eponymous label. The appointment comes as Galliano, the former darling of the fashion world, went on trial last Wednesday in Paris. He is charged with public insult for anti-Semitic remarks he allegedly made in February 2011.

Galliano’s replacement , 51-year-old British designer Bill Gaytten, worked alongside Galliano for 23 years, at both Dior and at John Galliano. He has been leading the design team at John Galliano since the shamed star’s departure in March, and was entirely responsible for overseeing the brand’s recent menswear collection.

He told WWD: “It's the same job for me; I've been doing it for a long time.”

Several high profile names have been thrown into the pot as possible successors to Galliano at Dior, including Azzedine Alaïa, Riccardo Tisci and Haider Ackermann, but his replacement is yet to be announced.
