Dior draws up designer shortlist
Christian Dior spring/summer 2011
Aside from all the royal wedding fever, the biggest fashion story of the year so far is John Gallianos fall from grace and who will replace him at the helm of Dior.
Well, we maybe a little closer to finding out, since the French fashion house has reportedly drawn up a list of contenders to fill the vacant creative director post.
The list includes hotly tipped favourites Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, Lanvins Alber Elbaz, Tom Ford, Hedi Slimane and Theorys Olivier Theyskens, as well as Prabal Gurung, Haider Ackermann, Nicolas Ghesquiere and, surprisingly, Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen.
According to WWD Cheshire-born Burtons chances of getting the coveted job would skyrocket if she were, as rumoured, to dress Kate Middleton for the royal wedding next week.
Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of the French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH which owns Dior, is reportedly transfixed by royalty and would love to associate the Dior brand with the new royal couple.
Who do you want to get the job?
