The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards may be more than three months away, but we're already counting down the days to this year's glitzy ceremony. With that in mind, the CFDA has whetted our appetite by revealing this year's award nominees.

The Womenswear Designer of the Year Award will see New York hot shot Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, and last year’s winner Marc Jacobs fight it out for the night’s most prestigious prize.

The Menswear award will be decided between Simon Spurr, Michael Bastian and Patrik Ervell, while for accessories, Wang is up against the Proenza Schouler boys and Reed Krakoff.

In the rising fashion talent categories, The Row designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Joseph Altuzarra and Prabal Gurung are up for the Swarovski emerging talent prize for womenswear, Phillip Lim, Robert Geller and Wang are nominated for menswear, while jewellery designer Pamela Love, Jason Wu, Eddie Borgo and Alejandro Ingelmo will contest the same prize but for accessories.

Other notable honourees include Marc Jacobs (who will receive a lifetime achievement award), Lady Gaga (this year’s fashion icon recipient) and our very own Phoebe Philo of Celine (who will scoop the International Award).

The winners will be announced at the CFDA Awards 2011 ceremony on 6 June in New York.
