Vivienne Westwood rules the Brits
Not only did Vivienne Westwood design the new Brit Awards statuette, but she was the designer of choice on the red carpet at last nights glitzy music ceremony.
Not one, not two, but three British female singers wore Vivienne Westwood creations to the Brit Awards 2011 in a triple whammy for the iconic designer. Newcomer Jessie J, who won the Critics Choice Award last night, wore a super-short bottle green dress with heaps of ruffles worn low on one shoulder. She teamed her dress with white seamed tights, black peep-toe shoe-boots by Christian Louboutin and plenty of attitude. Pop starlet and British Female Solo Artist nominee Ellie Goulding opted for an ethereal floaty silk gown in champagne worn with studded gold peep-toe heels and candy pink hair. And finally, fellow British Female Solo Artist nominee Paloma Faith, who performed a duet last night with Cee Lo Green on his hit single Forget You, wore a silver jewel-encrusted strapless gown accessorised with long black evening gloves and an oversized bow in her hair.
Elsewhere on the red carpet, X Factor darling Cheryl Cole wore a floor-length black sequinned gown with sheer sleeves by Stella McCartney, teamed with nude patent Christian Louboutin pumps. But the fashion crown belonged to star of the show and Best International Female winner Rihanna who wore a total of four different looks. She arrived on the red carpet wearing a turquoise and purple prom dress by Dior, performed a raunchy medley of her three latest singles wearing a custom-made red rose corsage dress with a rise and fall hem by Giles, before changing into a black bodysuit by Manjit Deu and fishnet tights. Her final look was a white rose print strapless gown by Oscar de la Renta, which she wore to accept her award.
