Dior sacks Galliano

by Leanne Ball
John Galliano fired

Following the release of a video where John Galliano is heard making anti-Semitic remarks and racial slurs, Christian Dior have fired the theatrical designer with immediate effect.

In the video, a clearly inebriated Galliano is heard to say “I love Hitler”, calls a fellow diner “ugly” and talks about people being “gassed”.

Sidney Toledano, Dior’s president and chief executive officer, said, “I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior.”

The dismissal came after Oscar winning actress Natalie Portman, who is the face of Parfums Christian Dior, publicly condemned British Galliano and disassociated herself from him.

We hear that Dior intends to go ahead with its runway show on Friday, but who will be at the helm we do not know.
