You should know about... Pregnant fashionistas

Dasha Zhukova is the latest fashionista to join the ranks of stylish mums-to-be.

It seems that there's something in the water as the fashion world experiences a summer baby boom. Not only are models Jourdan Dunn, Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima and Karolina Kurkova all expecting, but Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen and Penélope Cruz, star of the upcoming Broken Embraces, are also rumoured to be pregnant.

The latest to join the expanding list of stylish mums-to-be is Russian fashion designer, socialite and new Pop editor Dasha Zhukova. Sources close to the co-founder of cult clothing brand Kova&T, famous for its cool party dresses and glossy leggings, and girlfriend of oligarch and Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich confirmed yesterday that she is six months pregnant with the couple's first child.

Twenty-eight-year-old Dasha, whose first issue of Pop hits newsstands next month, is said to have discovered that she is expecting on a recent holiday in the Caribbean, with her and Abramovich said to be "ecstatic and excited" at the news. The source added, "Dasha is so petite it's impossible to notice she has a baby bump, even though she is six months gone."

Of course, a rise in pregnancies calls for chic maternity wear, and fashion conscious expectant mothers are in luck, due to a surge in stylish maternity clothing range launches. From chic e-boutique Mama-la-mode's capsule collection and high street store River Island's new punk-inspired line to the poster girl of LA cool Nicole Richie's new range for maternity fashion site A Pea In The Pod - there's no shortage of frump-free options to choose from.

Expect to see some extremely well-heeled maternity looks hitting the party circuit come September.
