Designers Dee Murren and Claire Merry are passionate about print; they create unique designs for every set in their Dirty Pretty Things (DPT) lingerie brand. DPT is all about vivacious colour and stand-out details with a generous helping of playfulness. Their designs are top-sellers in the Selfridges lingerie department, and to celebrate the department store has created a special pop-up area solely devoted to DPT for the Valentines season.
As well as displaying the glamorous new Spring/Summer 2012 collection amidst cherry blossom trees, the Dirty Pretty Things pop-up also showcases the special new version of their best-selling Eloise set, which is a collaboration between DPT and legendary jeweller Stephen Webster. Kate Moss, Madonna and Victoria Beckham amongst other famous names are all big fans of Stephens designs he is well known for his gothic, dramatic creations.
His re-interpretation of the Eloise set involves a black mesh and silk bra and briefs, decorated with precious stones that mirror the design of the Envy pendant from the Seven Deadly Sins collection. Featuring a cheeky Dirty Pretty Wink, the bra has one pretty eye open and another shut, because as Stephen told us, having two eyes looking at you in the bedroom might be disconcerting! Speaking to handbag.com, Stephen explained how his design aesthetic works perfectly with that of the DPT team. He sees a lot of similarities between their eye for dramatic print and his iconic jewellery, which is heavily inspired by symbolism and superstition. The winking eye is the perfect fusion of the Webster iconography and Dirty Pretty Things playful prints.
The Stephen Webster set will be on show in Selfridges for the duration of the pop-up, while customers can purchase a pretty Swarovski version of the design, which features black, white and green Sahara pave crystal stones set in sterling silver to create the eye design.
The Dirty Pretty Things pop-up runs from 6th February to 11th March and the Swarovskiembellished Stephen Webster set is priced at £150 for the bra and £75 for the briefs.
