There's a definite nip in the air, so there's only one thing for it: make your excuses - ‘It's time to bundle up', ‘It's an investment' - and get out and snap up a jacket that will keep out the chill but, more importantly, rate you high on the thermometer of cool!
As Jean Paul Gaultier will tell you, plaid is back: checks of every colour and clan made their way down his autumn/winter runway and we think this Dorothy Perkins number will get you in the mood for a fling, Highland or otherwise.
With an epidemic of them in high-street stores, the leather bomber is undoubtedly the must-have for the season. Miss Selfridge's hooded version with its girly details is the best by far. River Island's cocoon coat, on the other hand, is gorgeously ladylike and will take you seamlessly from chilly days to frosty nights.
