Selfridges launch an in-store library

We’re just as into books as we are clothes here at Handbag, so it’s nice to see the two combined so neatly with Selfridges new library project. Tying in with the closure of many libraries across the UK, it’s an attempt by the department store giant to get people away from TV screens and back into reading.

Celebrities including Olivia Palermo, Lily Cole and Thandie Newton have all shared their favourite reads with the project, which are The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and What is the What by David Eggers, respectively. So go on, get your nose back into that book before you buy those new shoes!

With the15,000-strong book collection curated by publishers Penguin, Thames and Hudson, Faber and Taschen, who were instructed to only select the most inspirational books you could find, you’re sure to find only the best and coolest reads around.
