Pure princess beach chic
With Kate and Pippa Middletons 2006 bikini-clad bods sparking a trend for brilliant white two-pieces, its time we tackled this sometimes daunting swimwear option. Unlike their black counterpart, white bikinis require a healthy tan but otherwise can be surprisingly wearable; choosing a style that flatters your shape becomes all the more important, and make sure you pick textured or good quality fabric which will be less likely to expose what lies beneath(!)
We asked Harrods swimwear buyer Camilla Hall to give us her top tips for pulling off a white bikini: "A solid white bikini can sometimes be a scary proposition, so a textured material works well and is an easier option. Melissa Odabash and D&G both have a great white crochet bikini, which would pair perfectly with a white maxi dress. In terms of shapes, bandeaus or halters can be more forgiving, and Eres have a great bandeau which keeps the look chic."
For a quick route to an extra dose of poolside glamour, Hall suggests working embellishment into your swimwear: "Jewelled versions of the white triangle have been popular this season and for those wanting to go all out - Zeki has the ultimate embellished style, exclusively available at Harrods in the UK."
