If there is one item of clothing that really gets us excited here at Handbag Towers, it’s a brilliant jumper. Yes, we love knitwear and we are not ashamed to say it. So our interest was definitely piqued when we heard about the latest project from Pringle of Scotland, producers of the most fashionable cashmere money can buy. They have teamed up with Art and Design BA and MA Fashion students from Central St Martins to revisit the company’s archive designs from their 196 year history. Under the guidance of Professor Louise Wilson OBE, the students have designed a collection of knitwear based on pieces from the archive, working alongside Pringle’s craftspeople in Scotland. The jumpers have a strong graphic feel, with lots of block colours, clean lines and one even features a roaring lion. We like, a lot!
Twelve of the designs will now be distributed internationally, and have been modelled by inspirational actress and style icon Tilda Swinton. The handbag.com team has huge respect for Tilda’s androgynous, directional fashion sense, and we think she looks incredible in the Pringle of Scotland campaign.
