We love a jelly shoe. And we especially love a Melissa jelly shoe, especially these fab beauties designed by hot US designer Jason Wu, one of two styles which will launch later this month.
As reported in industry bible WWD, Wu will officially launch the collaboration on July 19 at the Melissa flagship in Brazil, becoming the first US designer to work with the Brazilian footwear manufacturer. Other designers on the brands roster include Gareth Pugh, Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier.
As huge aficionados of both the Lady Dragon peep-toe heels and Ultragirl ballet flats here at HB Towers (with several pairs of both styles between us), we love that Wu chose to reinterpret Melissas two signature styles, á la Dame Viv. We love the Art Deco-feel of the metallic gold sunburst detail on the Lady Dragon style, taken from Wus autumn/winter 2011 collection, while the Ultragirl pump, also peep-toe, features a grosgrain ribbon and Miss Wu owl logo - and is super cute!
Talking about the collaboration, Wu said: "It was really interesting for me to explore design possibilities with plastic, I wanted to take advantage of the materials I was given, make it all completely functional and waterproof and yet still remain extremely sophisticated."
And in keeping with Wus main shoe line, the Melissa + Jason Wu designs are lined in lace he often lines his shoes in snakeskin or lace. The designs are available in black, burgundy, transparent grey and nude.
We can't wait; can we have one in every colour please?!
