The unveiling of a new addition to the Mulberry bag family is always an occasion we look forward to with interest so we were delighted to meet Evelina - the first bag from the British heritage brand’s Spring/Summer pre-collection to launch (which means we can put it on our Christmas lists right now.)
The Mulberry S/S12 catwalk show was a seaside-inspired extravaganza, complete with candyfloss hair and saucy postcard humour. While the clothes were neon-bright and shiny, the stars of the show, as always, were the handbags and these came in a fresh, neutral palette of khaki, fudge and navy blue.
The Evelina comes in three different styles (satchel, large satchel and hobo) and in two different kinds of butter-soft leather - plus a rather racy leopard haircalf for the Hobo bag. Shiny gold hardware appears in plaque form on the adjustable strap, lending the Evelina a preppy, classic look which feels effortlessly cool, as Mulberry bags always do. It's a more subtle, under-the-radar look than the distinctive designs we expect from Mulberry and will appeal to women who want something that looks and feels luxurious that will last for years and never go out of style.
