Ted Baker reopened its Labyrinth-esque three-story store on Covent Garden\'s Floral Street today amid a blur of dance tunes, cupcakes and Tedtini cocktails (mmm, gin), following a spring facelift. At the centre of it all was the larger-than-life Ted himself, who gave us a whistle-stop tour of the space\'s highlights while periodically breaking off to comment on the fit of a jacket or give an adoring customer a hug.
Each floor has a slightly different inspiration ("I hate the words concept and theme," boomed Ted), from magical trompe l\'oeil effects such as fun-house mirrors and fitting rooms with 3D wallpaper in the basement right up to 50s-style pin-up touches for the womenswear offering on the first floor.
"Am I behind it all? I suppose I am," Ted laughed as we took in the phenomenal attention to detail (not only are the chairs levitating off the ground but you can actually sit on them...) and the sheer vastness of the collection.
So what of the clothes? Well, if you\'re looking to give your wardrobe a dose of new season loveliness, look no further. Whether you shop on Floral Street, at another Ted Baker outlet or online, the new collection is jam-packed with pretty spring gems. The range is bursting with floral and English country garden-inspired pieces, such as butterfly-print dresses, bandeau jumpsuits, tropical-print numbers, light trench coats and fizzing neon accessories.
