Whether you’re feverish about the London Olympics, or a 2012 refusenik, we know you readers like to keep fit, and look good while doing so. There’s nothing like a chic sportswear ensemble to inspire those early morning runs, and Stella McCartney and Adidas has come up with a second Team GB collection, in store this week, which will do just that.
As you might expect from McCartney, whose Adidas range has gone from strength-to-strength as one of the original designer sports brands (but without the scary price tag), the Team GB line offers breezy basics in patriotic shades of grey marl, navy, sky blue, red, white and ecru, with a good dose of glam metallic print detail.
Marking the launch, Adidas commissioned a short film, ‘You don’t know them... but you will’, by director Jacob Sutton, starring four of Britain’s Olympic gold medal contenders Phillips Idowu, Louis Smith, Heather Fell and Hollie Avil. The short, atmospheric flick, narrated by McCartney shows the athletes taking on the elements of earth, wind fire and water. Talking about the film, McCartney said: “Sport and style have always been the starting point for this collaboration; we wanted to take it to another art form for this collection by making a film and capturing the athletes in movement which is at the heart of this process.”
