A sleeping beauty awakes

Yes, you heard right. River Island’s Chelsea Girl launches today at a bijoux pop-up on the ground floor of Selfridges, and at 150 River Island stores, as well as its website. The capsule collection of vintage-inspired separates captures the spirit of the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s, when it was the modern girl’s go-to shop for affordable, trend-led fashion.

Designed by design graduate Lucy Moller, working with brand director Farida Kaikobad, the collection is as appealing to a new generation of Chelsea girls as it is to those who remember it first time around. We especially love the ‘70s-vibe blouses and wide-legged flares, as well as the fresh floral denim and washed-out tees.

If you’re in London’s West End over the next 16 days, Chelsea Girl reps will be out and about giving out 200 keys a day, with some unlocking fab fashion prizes to be claimed in the Chelsea Girl pop-up. While claiming your prize, you might want to play in their branded photobooth – we did, with hilarious results!

Read on to see our favourites from the Chelsea Girl launch collection, available now at River Island, and at Selfridges until Friday 8 April.
