A clutch bags spells elegance. And, while we're at it, so does YSL. The designer himself pointed out however ‘we must never confuse elegance with snobbery'. Despite his close associations with the bourgeois of society (his long term collaborator and muse Loulou de la Falaise, left, for instance was the daughter of a Count) Saint Laurent's designs were never flashy but rather understated, simplistic and chic.
