For autumn/winter 2011, French Connection have simplified things, with classic tailoring, clean lines and simple yet on-trend shapes featuring heavily in their latest collection. With a new relaxed approach to dressing, the high street chain has made sure we wont be stuck in front of our wardrobes wondering what to wear ever again.
All the lovely autumnal hues are there; think classic black and grey, rich purple and deep yellow, as well as the occasional moss green and animal prints. Expect military details in the outerwear particularly, seen in embroidery, epaulettes, rusty uniform hues and sharp cuts. Theres lots of flannel and knitwear present, of course, for layering up until your heart (not to mention body temperature) is content.
So, what are the key pieces? Were big fans of the skater skirt shape used in dresses as well as coats, for an extra girly, as well as modern look. This wouldnt be an autumn/winter 2011 collection without a nod to the sixties, which can be seen in the baby doll dresses and pillbox hats, but theres some seventies luxe available in sequin playsuits, faux fur jackets and knitted hot pants.
