Designer handbags for the masses

Handbags, shoes, hats, scarves, gloves, the list goes on but every woman has her fashion weakness and for some the temptation is too much.

It’s that urge, that desire, the want; when rational goes completely out the window and in the window staring back at you is that shoe, bag, hat, scarf, gloves etc. You have to have it no matter what, so you’ve already maxed out the cards on last months must have item, (which by the way, would look great with what’s in the shop window staring back at you) but that designer item, will come with a designer price tag.

There’s no need to give up the dream of owning a Mulberry or a Vuitton as there are some designer handbags suitable for the masses. If you’re talking about Gucci or Hemes it could be another story… however it’s just a case of knowing your style and your budget.

With London Fashion Week recently behind us it will be no time at all before you see the latest styles plucked off the catwalk and altered for the high street. Designers up and down the country are working themselves into a frenzy having just completed the biggest event in the fashion calendar but there lies the challenge of rolling out the fashion into the store before Christmas.

The satchel bag
The satchel bags have been a heavyweight champion in the world of handbags recently and Mulberry even named one of their best sellers after the ever popular fashion icon, Alexa Chung.

The tiny satchel in brown or tan leather has been a must-have for the summer, and an oversized one is ideal for the winter. With the joys of the high copycats you can find the same style and roughly the same colour in just about any shop from Primark to Mango.

Tote bag
You can pick up the classic chic tote bag from almost half the price of a Mulberry one from designers such as Michael Michael Kors. Marc Jacobs also are taking on the classic tote this season with a textured and glossy finish, its ideal for any trendsetter. Like an old friend tot bags will reappear every so often and always have something new to say. Practically every designer has his or her own spin on the tote bag from Victoria Beckham to Henry Holland’s H! collection for Debenhams.

Clutch/ Purse
The clutch bag is a staple to any handbag lover’s wardrobe and certainly a favorite amongst the royal trendsetter Kate Middleton. Making any outfit look fit for a princess a clutch or purse brings a touch of class and elegance to a look.

Shoulder
You can never go wrong with a shoulder bag and it comes in many forms. Christian Louboutin’s latest concoction looks more like a fashionable ball and chain than a bag as the fashion house fully embrace the “fetish” look of the season - Lady GaGa would be proud. Yet matched with some Louboutins, it’s a look many could pull off.

More conventional shoulder handbags can be found in many high street shops for the masses.
