Mad Men has inspired designers ever since it first aired; reviving that womanly, sixties silhouette. Now costume designer Janie Bryant has collaborated with high street chain Banana Republic to design an exclusive capsule collection of Mad Men inspired clothes. The Emmy award winning designer has created a collection for both men and women, which launched in stores late August.
The collection is inspired by the sharply-dressed men of the sixties advertising firm, and their extremely polished female counterparts. Think modern, lady-like looks for women, with high waisted skirts, silk-tie shirts and pump heels. Then there are the inevitable animal prints and patterns of the sixties thrown in, with print scarves and leopard print cardigans and trench coats.
For men, we have luxe American sportswear. You can channel your inner Donald Draper in dinner jackets, chunky knits and suit separates, as well as playful retro accessories, including pocket squares, money clips, fedora hats and silk ties. Scotch and a pack of Marlboros entirely optional to complete the look.
So make like Christina Hendricks and January Jones, and emphasise those womanly curves!
