Handbag.com’s fashion editor Phoebe Frangoul talks us through what’s in her handbag…
•The Chloe small Paraty shoulder bag is like Mary Poppins’ bottomless carpetbag, meaning it happily holds everything I want to cram into it and the beautiful burgundy leather only seem to improve with age.
•I always carry a book with me to give my brain a workout rather than picking up a free sheet on the tube. My favourites are murder mysteries of the ‘20s and ‘30s (Poirot, Campion) and anything by Nancy Mitford.
•I have a terrible memory so it’s essential to always have a notebook to hand to scribble down ideas for features when I’m out and about.
•I always have a pencil to hand to write in my notebook and underline things in novels! I favour a traditional school-style yelloy and black striped HB. Lovely.
•Agent Provocateur’s original eau de parfum is my signature scent and I love keeping this dinky little atomiser in my bag so I can top up during the day.
•Even though the Parker is a big bag, I also have lots of ridiculously tiny bags and so I need an equally petite purse to fit inside them – hence the Mulberry mini wallet, which holds cards and cash and is weathering down beautifully.
•I listen to music, use the map app for getting around the city, am addicted to Tweetdeck and make endless to-do lists on my trusty iPhone.
•I’m not a fan of online diaries and calendars, preferring to rely on my trusty little Smythson diary for keeping track of important dates. Every year I treat myself to a new one – I couldn’t keep my life organised without it.
•With Gwen Stefani as my all-time style icon, it’s no surprise that I always wear lipstick and alternate between red (MAC’s Ruby Woo) and fuschia.
•If I’ve got to go out from the evening straight from the office, I bring out the kohl pencil and apply as much as I can. The chubby little kohl crayon from T. LeClerc is brilliant for achieving a smoky, rock ‘n’ roll eye with minimal skill or effort!
