Selfridges hosts celebrity garage sale
Head to Selfridges to stock up on cut-price designer goodies for a good cause this weekend.
Prepare to forget everything you've ever known about garage sales. Selfridges is gearing up to give riffling through someone else's cast-offs a much-needed shot of glamour with its Really, Really Great Garage Sale - and the help of a few celebrity friends.
Visitors to the Oxford Street store's first floor car park this Sunday, 15 November, will be treated to the spoils cleared from the wardrobes of, among others, Naomi Campbell, Jemima Khan, Yasmin Le Bon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lily Allen, Tamara Mellon, Liz Hurley and Jasmine Guinness. Key pieces include an RM by Roland Mouret dress from Khan, Le Bon's Tod's sandals and a pair of Balenciaga boots donated by Paltrow.
The event has been arranged by children's charity Mothers4Children, whose patrons Lisa B, Louise Redknapp and Yasmin Le Bon have pulled out all the stops to make the affair one to remember. They've even enlisted famous friends Trinny Woodall, David Walliams, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Jasmine Guinness and Natalie Imbruglia to help man the stalls.
As well as all the fabulous fashion on offer there will be beauty treatments, a cake bake stall, a luxury tombola and entertainment for the littl'uns. The best part? All proceeds will go directly to Mothers4Children, which provides a network for mothers whilst supporting existing charitable organisations that have developed successful programs and services that benefit children in need.
Rubbing shoulders with celebrities, picking up designer bargains and helping a good cause - what's not to love? Entrance is £5 for adults and free for children. The sale is open 12pm - 4pm, Sunday, 15 November, 2009 at Selfridges first floor car park, Oxford Street. See you in the queue.
