Victoria Beckham to branch out

Could Victoria Beckham be preparing to expand her fashion empire? The answer is yes according to The Sun, which today claims that the Posh one is gearing up to launch shoe and handbag ranges.

"Victoria is tired of promoting other brands," an unnamed source tells the tabloid. "If she wears Christian Louboutin or Hermès people go and buy it. She thought, 'Why can't I do this with my own line?'"

Why not indeed. Since launching her luxury own-name dress collection (to surprisingly glowing reviews) at New York Fashion Week last September, Beckham has rarely been photographed wearing anything else clothing-wise, making her her brand's strongest ambassador. She is one of the most photographed women in the world - as are the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Elle MacPherson, who are also fans of her designs.

The source notes: "Her dVb collection has gone down a storm across the celebrity world. If this is repeated with her line of shoes, the range would be worth an absolute fortune. It is feasible that after David retires she could become the main breadwinner in the Beckham house."

With Victoria already controlling highly lucrative denim and sunglasses lines under the dVb label, a handbag and shoes launch would appear to be a logical development.
