Expect to see a lot more of Giles Deacon. The British designer, who shows as part of London Fashion Week as well as designing for high street chain New Look, has signed a production and distribution deal with Italian manufacturer Castor Srl. The deal provides financial backing, a rare and much-needed boost to struggling independent designers.
Deacon has said he plans to raise his company's profit margins, as well as increase the number of outlets, which currently include Dover Street Market and Harvey Nichols, his pieces are sold from. "At a certain point, we took a step back and asked ourselves, ‘What do we want this company to be?' The answer was a bigger business, with on-time deliveries, proper pre-collections, and a bigger distribution network."
The first evidence of this new collaboration will be a resort collection, launching at the end of June.
