No longer content with dressing the rich and famous, globally acclaimed fashion designer Stella McCartney has turned her attention to the Great Britain Olympic Team.
In collaboration with Adidas, the sponsors of the 2012 Olympics and the label she already creates a successful line of sportswear for (Adidas by Stella McCartney), McCartney will take up her role as the creative director overseeing the British athletes Olympic competing outfits, as well as a range of clothing to be worn during their stay in the Olympic village.
McCartney said she is determined to make the kit both uniquely stylish whilst also focusing on performance, I have a million challenges I have to make it look good on television, I have to make it feel good for the athletes and I have to make it work technically, it has to do its job." If the success of her previous collaboration with Adidas is anything to go by, she looks unlikely to disappoint.
Chief Executive of the British Olympic Association, Andy Hunt said, "We know that how an athlete looks and feels in their kit gives them a psychological advantage when competing, and we are delighted that Adidas has brought Stella onboard." And so are we, hopefully the added style boost will lead to a Stella performance!
