Ronnie Wood to design for Liberty

What does an ageing rocker do with his downtime (aside from drinking and dating girls that are a) not his wife and b) a third of his age)? They design a range of clothes and accessories for an upmarket department store, of course.

In what is probably one of the most unexpected celebrity/fashion collaborations to hit our inbox, it has been announced that Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood and Liberty of London's  creative director Tamara Salman have been working together on a collection of womenswear, menswear and accessories due to hit the shop floor this autumn.

According to Liberty of London, the partnership grew out of "a keen admiration for each others' work and a common tendency to rock the boundaries". Salman has created a collection that translates a selection of Wood's paintings from canvas into leather, cotton, jersey, foil and nylon and sculpted them into T-shirts, dresses, cashmere scarves, shoppers, fold-over clutches, travel holdalls and purses. Some of the men's T-shirts will feature (as yet unspecified) quotes from Ronnie in graffiti (can we suggest "I can't be left unsupervised"?).

No pictures of the range have been released yet, but a rock'n'roll take on Liberty's avant-garde floral patterns, fused with Salman's gothic sensitivity will definitely make for interesting results, maaaan.
