It's arrivederci Milano and bonjour Paris as the fashion pack migrate to the French capital for the last fashion week in the international spring/summer 2010 collections.
Anne Valérie Hash, Rue de Mail, Rochas and Gareth Pugh kicked off proceedings with R&B songstress Rihanna adding a touch of A-list glamour to Sunderland-born designer Pugh's spring/summer 2010 show, as she perched on the front row next to photographer Ellen von Unwerth, who is to shoot her next album cover. The 21-year-old singer, who finds herself at the centre of media gossip with rumours swirling that she and the newly single Justin Timberlake are enjoying a secret romance, is said to have been researching looks for her next album's artwork. Giving Lady GaGa a run for her money in the crazy dressing stakes Rihanna, who is the latest celebrity to design her own clothing line, chose a risqué roll neck dress with sheer striped panels, barely covering her modesty, from Pugh's spring/summer 2010 collection for her front row appearance.
As well as Rihanna, the show drew an impressive front row, including REM frontman Michael Stipe, Daphne Guinness, and Entourage actor Adrian Grenier.
As for the show, Pugh, who is known for his edgy, cyber-gothic and futuristic designs, showed a more romantic and softer collection than previous seasons, with bundles of shredded knits, hooded capes, leather trench coats and striped dresses teamed with feathered wing-like ear-pieces, that wouldn't look out of place in a Tim Burton film, all in different shades of grey.
